Our General English courses cover all levels from beginner to advanced and all levels are taught by trained English teachers.

The minimum age for this course is 16 years old. You are given a placement test so that you can be sure that you are in the correct class

There is a particular emphasis on developing your communication skills on our General English courses.

You will have lessons based on a course book and will study reading, writing, vocabulary and grammar, but you will also take part in activities designed to get you speaking and communicating in English.

You will be encouraged to reach level B1 before starting IELTS classes or Cambridge higher suite exam preparation.

There is a monthly progress test on Friday mornings. This will mean that you are always aware of your progress and learning outcomes.

  • Levels from Beginner to Advanced (A0 – C1)
  • Maximum class size: 15 (minimum 4)
  • Student-centred teaching style
  • Modern interactive course materials Interactive “off book” lessons designed around you and your class’s need

  • Closed group classes are available for organised groups

*Certain levels may not be available immediately.

You may combine the General English morning course with Academic or Professional English from level B1 (Intermediate). Taking the afternoon General English lessons will give you guided practice in communication and writing skills, allowing you more practice in the areas you studied in the morning classes. You may study the General English course part time. However, you will be responsible for completing the missed morning lessons as homework.

English culture is an important part of our language and you will be encouraged to engage in class projects and homework that will help you understand British and English culture. We want you to take full advantage of being in England and
practise your English outside of the classroom too. You should expect about 4-5 hours per week homework on our intensive course.

You will be able to book free time in our purpose built blended learning suite during school opening hours to aid your self-study.
